Apple adds subscription discounts to the App Store

A new feature called "contingent pricing" will be accessible in the App Store, according to a post on the Apple Developer website (via 9to5Mac). Customers who have a current subscription to another journal may receive a discount, which is how the subscription got its name. As long as the consumer continues to be enrolled in both magazines, that discount will be given each month.

According to what Apple stated on the webpage for developers: With the App Store's new contingent pricing option, you can offer clients a lower subscription fee as long as they're currently enrolled in another subscription. This feature helps you draw in and keep users. Subscriptions from one developer or two distinct developers can be utilized with it. In the upcoming months, we'll be recruiting more developers and continuing the trial program for this product."

Apple continues by advising developers to begin strategizing how they would include contingent pricing into their App Store price plans. Through a link on the website, developers may register to be notified in January when Apple plans to provide them with further information about "contingent pricing."

Apple provides a detailed definition of "contingent pricing" as follows: "For instance, you may provide premium customers of Ocean Journal with the option to subscribe to Mountain Climber for $4.99/month rather than the usual $5.99/month. Customers who continue to subscribe to Ocean Journal pay the discounted fee."

Apple explains how users will be able to locate publications on the App Store that provide "contingent pricing" even if the tech giant is writing to developers. Customers may locate the lower pricing, according to Apple, through off-platform marketing methods, scheduled placements in the App Store, and a publication's App Store listing.

Apple claims that by delivering "a seamless redemption and purchasing experience" to customers based on the contingent price proposition that the developers will be presenting, it will assist developers in managing the deployment of "contingent pricing".

UsersĀ of the App Store won't be able to access "contingent pricing" until later in the year.
