ChatGPT app was released by OpenAI in May for iOS, with a promise that it would soon be available for Android. The ChatGPT app for Android will be available next week, according to a statement from OpenAI.

The release of an official Android version is anticipated to address the market's glut of knockoff GPT applications. These unofficial apps have exploited the Android environment up to now, some of them contain hazardous or dishonest material.

Those interested in giving ChatGPT's Android app a try can pre-register on Google Play Store. The app will be free to use and sync user history across devices, but it's unclear how many markets will get it first.

A similar experience to its iOS counterpart, including the ability to sync conversations and preferences between devices, is what the Android ChatGPT wants to deliver. The deployment would begin next week, the company said, though the precise launch date is not official yet.

Additionally, OpenAI is in the testing stage of a new feature called "customized instructions," which is only available to Plus plan subscribers. By allowing users to give the AI chatbot precise instructions, this feature will improve customization. The app will furthermore include recent updates from the iOS version, such as Bing integration and better history search capabilities.

Don't expect Siri and Shortcuts integration that is present on the iOS app since the Android app might not be exactly like the iOS app given that we are discussing two distinct operating systems.

Last week, news broke that ChatGPT had experienced its first traffic decline since going live. The Android platform introduction would probably increase traffic once more.
