Google adds Mint color to Pixel 8 series.
Google has officially announced the addition of fresh color to its latest Pixel 8 series – Mint. Available for both the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, the Mint variant comes equipped with all the signature Google AI features in the rest of the lineup. Notably, these new colors are exclusively offered through the Google Store and Google Fi Wireless in the US, with carriers and retailers not providing them. Starting January 25, US customers can get their hands on the Mint color, though it's important to note that this color option is limited to the base 128GB storage variant.
For those who require more storage, the original colors remain the only option. This introduction of Mint allows regular Pixel 8 enthusiasts to deviate from the standard black, hazel, and rose gold choices available since the phone's launch in October. Meanwhile, the Pixel 8 Pro model offers a more vibrant Bay Blue color from the outset.
Jenny Davis, a CMF (Colour, Material, and Finish) design manager at Google, describes the Mint green variant as a "breath of fresh air and a cool spring breeze." She emphasizes its serene yet lively nature, inviting a sense of calmness with an energized touch.
In addition to the color release, Google surprises Pixel users with the introduction of a new game called Kick, catering to football enthusiasts. While open to everyone for casual play, significant prizes are on the line for recent transfers to TeamPixel, especially within the UK. Each order comes with a unique QR code, inviting users to play Kick with Pixel and the chance to win football tickets, shirts, and more.
Alongside these announcements, Google unveils the latest feature drop for Pixel users. While some features are exclusive to the Pixel 8 series, others, like the Magic Compose feature enabling the rewriting of drafted messages in different styles, are accessible to older Pixel devices. Notably, the Pixel 8 Pro's built-in thermometer gains practical functionality, allowing users to measure body temperatures. Additionally, the Circle to Search feature, first seen on the Galaxy S24 series, is making its way to the Pixel 8 series.
