Honor Magic 6 & 6 Pro Renders Fuel Satellite Speculation
Honor is gearing up for a much-anticipated two-day event in China on January 10th, where it will unveil its latest offerings—the Magic OS 8.0 operating system and the eagerly awaited Magic 6 smartphone series. Although the official launch is still a few weeks away, leaks provide an enticing sneak peek into what's in store.
The most recent leak, shared by @Rodent950, showcases renders of both the Honor Magic 6 and Magic 6 Pro. Both devices boast a sleek design featuring a sophisticated triple-camera setup arranged in a distinctive triangle formation. Notably, one of the lenses appears to be a periscope telephoto lens, as indicated by a 100x inscription on the camera module.
Adding to the buzz, a Weibo tech analyst conducted a test comparing Honor’s Satellite Communication feature with that of the Huawei Mate 60 Pro. While the results are preliminary, they suggest that the Magic 6 Pro might outshine its rival in several key aspects.
In the test, the Magic 6 Pro demonstrated significantly faster satellite connections than the Mate 60 Pro, streamlining the communication process by eliminating the need for separate direction measurements. Impressively, the Honor phone also allows for longer calls, surpassing the 5-minute mark—a capability not shared by the Huawei device, which enforces disconnection. While Huawei pioneered satellite SMS technology, Honor appears poised to emerge as a robust contender in this burgeoning field.
Recent leaks have also shed light on the camera setup for the Magic 6 series. Reports indicate that both the Magic 6 and Magic 6 Pro will feature a rear camera configuration, with a 50-megapixel OmniVision OV50H main camera and a 50-megapixel OV50M ultra-wide lens. For telephoto shots, the Magic 6 is said to incorporate a 50-megapixel OV50M camera sensor, while the Pro variant is expected to house a Samsung HP3 camera sensor, adding an extra layer of excitement to Honor's upcoming smartphone lineup.
