Huawei Mate X5 Launches with Bigger Battery, More RAM to Take on Foldable Phone Market
The Huawei Mate X5 is the next unannounced smartphone from Huawei, which has been launching smartphones inexplicably in recent weeks. The Mate X5, which succeeds the Mate X3 directly, makes some internal changes while keeping the design mostly the same.
Huawei Mate X5 Specifications
The Mate X5 has the same 6.4-inch LTPO OLED cover display (1,080 x 2,504px) with Kunlun Glass protection and a 7.85-inch LTPO OLED main display (2,224 x 2,496 px). In addition to the Feather White, Feather Black, Feather Gold, and Green Mountain colors that were also available on the Mate X3, the Mate X5 has a new Phantom Purple color on the exterior.
The design of the camera island on the back has also been somewhat modified, but the shooters—a 50MP primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture, a 13MP ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 aperture, and a 12MP periscope camera with a 5x optical zoom—remain the same.
The most recent Huawei foldable has 1TB of storage and up to 16GB of RAM. Although the chipset utilized here has not been officially confirmed, various rumors from China imply that it is the same Kirin 9000s SoC used in the newly released Mate 60 series of handsets. It's rumored to be a 7nm process semiconductor from SMIC with 5G capabilities.
The brand-new antenna design, which is said to boost signal reception, is the other intriguing aspect. An AI algorithm is used in Huawei's Lingxi antenna to choose the best network for connectivity. For even greater signal quality, the antennas around the device's frame additionally have dual-mode tuning technology.
The Mate X5 also has a larger 5,060 mAh battery that supports 66W conventional charging, 50W wireless charging, and 7.5W reverse wireless charging. The gadget boots up HarmonyOS 4, which has new air gesture features that let you browse through movies, websites, and photos without ever touching the main display. The Mate X5 is IPX8 waterproof and has two-way BeiDou satellite messaging in China.
The Huawei Mate X5 is presently available for pre-order through VMall, and open sales are anticipated to start on September 15.
