MediaTek Dimensity 9300 to Launch on November 6

The Dimensity 9300 chipset will be launched by MediaTek on November 6 at 19:00 local China time.

The Dimensity 9300, the chipmaker's top SoC, will fight against the Exynos 2400 and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 that will be introduced later today.

The CPU configuration is what sets the Dimensity distinct from its competitors. Instead of one Cortex-X4 core, it contains four. A "prime" core operating at 3.25 GHz and a cluster of three cores operating at 2.85 GHz are said to be combined in a 1+3 configuration. There won't be any Cortex-A520s among the remaining four cores, which will be Cortex-A720s with a 3 GHz maximum speed. It'll have an Arm Immortalis G720 GPU.

It would seem that the Dinemsity 9300 should dominate its rivals given that both the Exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will only have one Cortex-X4 core each. It's not quite that straightforward, though. Since the Cortex-X4 will be more difficult to keep cool, the Dimensity 9300 could theoretically throttle more easily to control its thermals.

The Dimensity 9300 appears to have surpassed AnTuTu after crossing the 2,000,000 mark in early tests. That is 65% more CPU points and 55% more GPU points than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 score.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 gets a score of over 2 million on AnTuTu, according to early benchmarks, but the Exynos 2400 has a ten-core CPU, which may give it an advantage in some workloads.
