oraimo spacebox

Oraimo has built a reputation for making affordable yet functional tech accessories, and their latest portable Bluetooth speaker, the Oraimo SpaceBox, is no exception. With a compact design, customizable lighting, and deep bass, it promises an exciting audio experience at an entry-level price.

But does it truly deliver on its promises? In this review, we’ll explore its design, sound quality, battery life, and overall performance to determine if it’s worth your money.

Unboxing & First Impressions

Oraimo keeps things simple when it comes to packaging. Inside the box, you’ll find:

  • The Oraimo SpaceBox speaker
  • A Type-C charging cable
  • A lanyard for easy carrying
  • A user manual

At first glance, the SpaceBox stands out with its sleek, transparent design, reminiscent of the Oraimo SpaceBuds. The curved edges and wave-like aesthetics give it a modern and stylish look. Despite being made of plastic, it still manages to feel premium in hand. The speaker grille is metal, adding a touch of durability.

Weighing just 280 grams, it’s incredibly lightweight—easier to carry around than most power banks. The included lanyard makes it even more portable, allowing you to attach it to your wrist or bag effortlessly.

Design & Build Quality

While the SpaceBox looks great, its plastic body is prone to scratches, so it’s best to handle it with care. Unlike some other Bluetooth speakers in this price range, it lacks an IP rating, meaning it’s not resistant to water or dust. If you’re planning to use it outdoors or at the poolside, this might not be the best choice.

On the top of the speaker, there are three buttons for volume control and playback. The microphone is located near these buttons, and for the best call quality, it’s recommended to keep that side facing you.

At the bottom, you’ll find the power button, Bluetooth button, memory card slot, and Type-C charging port. One small downside is that the buttons require a bit of extra pressure to press, making them slightly inconvenient to use.

Another unique feature of the SpaceBox is its built-in LED light ring, which syncs with your music. You can customize the lighting effects using the Oraimo Sound App, adding a fun, mini disco vibe to your listening experience.

Sound Quality: Does It Deliver?

spacebox sound

The most important aspect of any speaker is sound quality, and this is where the SpaceBox excels. For an 8W speaker, it produces an impressive amount of bass, thanks to Oraimo’s HavyBass technology. The sound is powerful and immersive, making it great for casual listening.

However, at maximum volume, there is some distortion, which is expected from a speaker of this size. The mids and highs are decent, but they don’t stand out as much as the bass. If you prefer a more balanced sound, the Oraimo Sound App offers three EQ presets: Standard, HavyBass, and Vocal, allowing you to adjust the sound to your liking.

Overall, while music lovers may find the clarity lacking, for an everyday user, it delivers a fun and engaging listening experience.

Connectivity & Features

The SpaceBox supports Bluetooth 5.4, ensuring a strong and stable connection up to 10 meters away. Even with walls in between, the connection holds up well. Pairing is quick and effortless, just like other Oraimo speakers.

Other features include:

  • FM Radio: Built-in radio for those who enjoy tuning in to local stations.
  • Memory Card Slot: Insert a TF card to play music directly without needing a phone.
  • LED Light Customization: Control and personalize the lights via the Oraimo Sound App.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t support dual device connection, meaning you can’t switch between two devices seamlessly—a feature some competitors offer.

Battery Life & Charging

With moderate volume, the SpaceBox lasts around 7 hours before needing a recharge. If you enable Playtime Boost Mode in the app, which disables bass and lighting, you can extend battery life further.

Charging takes about 2-3 hours using the Type-C port. While this isn’t the fastest charging time, it’s reasonable for a speaker in this price range.

Call Quality & Usability

The built-in microphone is functional but not exceptional. It’s fine for casual calls or online meetings, but if you’re in a noisy environment, you might struggle to hear or be heard clearly.

A small but useful detail is the auto power-off feature—if there’s no connection for 5 minutes, or no playback for 30 minutes, the speaker turns off automatically to conserve battery.

Pros & Cons

What’s Great?

Compact & lightweight – Easy to carry anywhere.

Customizable EQ & LED lighting – Personalize your experience.

Strong bass performance – Impressive sound for its size.

Multiple playback options – Supports Bluetooth, FM radio, and TF card.

Decent battery life – Lasts up to 7 hours with moderate use.

What Could Be Better?

No water or dust resistance – Not ideal for outdoor adventures.

Plastic body is prone to scratches – Needs careful handling.

Buttons require extra pressure to press – Can be annoying.

No dual device connection – Switching between devices isn’t seamless.

Final Verdict: Should You Buy the Oraimo SpaceBox?

For its ₦26,000 in Nigeria, the Oraimo SpaceBox delivers good sound quality, stylish design, and useful features. If you’re looking for a compact and affordable Bluetooth speaker for casual listening, it’s a great option.

However, if you need a more rugged, water-resistant speaker or one with advanced features like multi-device pairing, this may not be the best choice for you.
