Few days ago, Xiaomi subbrand Redmi, added a new member to the older Redmi 9series, the Redmi 9 Activ.
The Redmi 9 Activ was launched for the India market, though no information was given if other markets like Nigeria will be getting the Redmi 9 Activ or not.
The Redmi 9 Activ is basically the global Redmi 9C with more ram and more storage.
While these upgrades might not look like much to an heavy user, the additional RAM/ROM may actually sit well with users who use their devices for media consumption and mild gaming.
Considering the price point at which the Redmi 9 Activ is retailing for on the Xiaomi Mi India store, its almost impossible to fault xiaomi for this brilliant addition to the Redmi 9 series.
The Redmi 9 Activ is bringing a much needed flexibility to a price point where its seemingly impossible for such upgrades.
Redmi 9 Activ specs.
- 6.5inch HD IPS screen.
- 13+2+2mp rear cameras.
- 5mp front camera.
- 5000mah battery.
- Mediatek Helio G35 chipset.
- Rear fingerprint scanner.
- Android 10 based on miui 12.
- Usb B charging port with 10watts charge support.
This is the same specs the older Redmi 9C launched with, where the Redmi 9 Activ differs from the global Redmi 9c is in storage and RAM.
The Redmi 9C launched with a max storage version of 3/64. The Redmi 9 Activ pushed that further by adding a 4/64, 4/128 and 6/128 versions to the list.
For the India market, the higher 6/128 Redmi 9 Activ variant costs 11,000 rupees, which roughly converts to 62,000 naira.
For a moderate specs and more ROM/RAM the Redmi 9 Activ will be an instant hit if it was to launch in Nigeria this year.
Considering that the newly launched Redmi 10 6/128 costs almost a 100,000 naira for a midrange device.
I wouldn’t mind getting the Redmi 9 Activ for similar storage option with waterdown specs but at almost half the price of the Redmi 10.
Prediction for Redmi 9 Activ Nigeria launch.
Also, judging by how Xiaomi does its product launch, we cannot rule out Nigeria getting the Redmi 9 Activ before the end of 2021.
Because most devices available to the India Market have either launched in Nigeria before, or after its India unveiling.
Expected pricing of the Redmi 9 Activ for Nigeria market.
It might not be feasible that Xiaomi will be launching the Redmi 9 Activ for offline stores in Nigeria, seeing its neither a new product nor a complete upgrade.
So, we expect an online store exclusive launch for Jumia Nigeria, which would allow xiaomi control the pricing of the product.
We are predicting the Redmi 9 Activ 6/128 version to cost less than 70,000 naira if it does launch in Nigeria.
What do you think? Do you agree with our prediction, do you see yourself getting the Redmi 9 Activ for the added RAM/ROM or the specs are far to moderate for your daily needs?
