Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 unveiled with improved flex hinge, larger cover display, and more.
The Flex Hinge and the Flex Window are two significant upgrades for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5. These address the two main issues with the Z Flip4: the size of the gap left when it was closed and the small cover display.
The phone can now finally close flat thanks to the Flex Hinge. This also reduces the thickness by 2mm from the Z Flip4's thickest point, which now measures 15.1mm. The new Flip measures 6.9mm thick, 165.1mm tall, and 71.9mm wide when it is opened.
Design and Display:
The 187g weight is the same as before. The cover display and back panel of this phone are made of Armor Aluminum and have Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. The body is IPX8-rated, which allows it to submerge for 30 minutes up to 1 meter (3.3 feet) underwater. Additionally, the new Flex Hinge design has a twin rail construction, which lessens the impact of outside forces (like when you fumble and drop your phone).
The Z Flip4's display is 3.78 times smaller than the new Flex Window. This enables the user to interact with widgets, such as weather, music, stock quotes, and even reply to incoming messages on a full QWERTY keyboard. You may also access all of your stored coupons, QR codes, and payment services by pulling out your Samsung Wallet. With Multi Widget View, you can swiftly scan widgets and navigate between them using the common pinch and zoom gestures.
Due to its peculiar design, the Flex display has a 3.4" diagonal and a 720 x 748px resolution (306ppi). It operates at 60 Hz.
The Z Flip5's main display is a 6.7" FHD+ panel with a 22:9 aspect ratio and an adjustable refresh rate of 1-120Hz.
Camera and other Spec:
To use the rear cameras to snap selfies, the Flex Window also works much better as a viewfinder. Apart from selfies, Dual Preview enables you to take pictures of your pals while allowing them to see how they seem on the cover display. While you can use Super Steady stabilization for handheld movies, Auto Framing will follow you as you walk around the room if you're using the Z Flip5 as its tripod.
The camera configuration has not altered from the previous year. The primary 12MP module includes a 1/1.76" sensor with an enormous 1.8-million-pixel Dual Pixel AF, and the f/1.8 lens incorporates optical image stabilization (OIS). A 12MP super wide camera (1.12 m pixel) with an f/2.2 123° lens is also available.
Of course, the huge Flex Display makes them much more useful for selfies than they were last year. On the interior, there is still a dedicated selfie camera, a 10MP camera with an 85° lens and 1.22 mm pixels.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset (found in the S23 series) powers the phone. The storage options are 256GB and 512GB, and it comes with 8GB of RAM.
The battery hasn't undergone any significant modifications; it still has a 3,700mAh capacity, supports 25W cable charging (which can charge it to 50% in around 30 minutes), and supports 15W wireless charging.
It has a capacitive fingerprint reader that is located on the side. Additionally, there is a card slot for a single nano-SIM, which when used in conjunction with an eSIM, gives you the choice of two phone lines.
Price and Availability:
Pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 are already available; open sales will start on August 11 in a few weeks.
About the price, there is some good and some negative news. The bad news is that, according to rumors, Samsung is not offering the cheapest model (128GB), but the good news is that the other two are slightly less expensive.
The 256GB model will cost £1,050 in the UK, while the 512GB model will cost £1,150. This capacity cost £1,060 and £1,200, respectively, the previous year.
There are four colors for the Z Flip5: mint, lavender, cream, and graphite. Gray, Blue, Green, and Yellow are among the regular colors that may only be purchased from Samsung.com.

Besides, this generation of Z foldables incorporates more recycled components than their forerunners, including post-consumer recycled PET bottles, pre-consumer recycled glass, and aluminum. Unsurprisingly, 100% recycled paper was used to make the packaging.
