Samsung's Galaxy Tab Active 5 Now in US Stores
Samsung has officially launched its latest rugged tablet, the Galaxy Tab Active 5, for US customers, marking its arrival following the initial announcement in January 2024. Crafted with business users in mind, this new device aims to outshine its predecessor, the Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro, in key aspects.
Available in a specialized Enterprise Edition tailored for US businesses, the Galaxy Tab Active 5 comes with a starting price of $548.99 for the standard variant. For those seeking enhanced connectivity, a 5G-enabled version is offered at $659. While these price points may seem steep for a tablet, it's important to note that the Tab Active 5 is engineered to thrive in rugged environments, making it a crucial tool for specific industries.
As previously mentioned, the Galaxy Tab Active 5 boasts robust durability, earning MIL-STD-810H certification and featuring a protective case capable of withstanding drops from heights of up to 12 meters. Additionally, it is dustproof, waterproof with an IP68 rating, and boasts scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
The front panel features an 8-inch FHD display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The tablet has a 13MP back camera and a 5MP selfie camera for capturing memories while on the road.
The Galaxy Tab Active 5 is powered by the Exynos 1380 processor, with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and storage choices ranging from 128GB to 256GB, which can be expanded via a microSD card. While Samsung has a reputation for providing quick software upgrades, it's worth noting that the Tab Active 5 arrives with the older Android 12, with an upgrade planned for the future.
Ensuring sustained productivity is a robust 5,050mAh battery, while security features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Moreover, users will appreciate the convenience of the dedicated Active key on the side, alongside connectivity options such as dual SIM support, 5G capability, pogo pin, USB-C, and Wi-Fi 6.
