I see Nigerians being the major benefactors of the Signal Private Messenger, as the term “𝑺𝒊𝒈𝒏𝒂𝒍” is a much better conversation starter when trying to make a phrase akin to this ☟︎︎︎
“bro signal me when you get home” sounds nice… right?
“bro WhatsApp me when you get home” okay-ish…
“bro telegram me when you get home” way way off.
Welcome to a detail review of the 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿.
In recent days the social media buzz has been about and around WhatsApp, Facebook and Zuckerberg as these three entities have collaborated to become assailants in an attempt to undermine people’s privacy, as 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 the use of WhatsApp is a on a use-or-die basis.
In a wild to change that, adding to the already vast community of other social media apps, Signal Messenger was publicised by no other but the Teslayer himself [Elon Musk] whose open disgust for WhatsApp woeful demand on users private data was widely applauded. Bear in mind, Signal Private Messenger is no baby, as it was released on May 2010, making Signal Private Messenger five months older than WhatsApp Messenger.
Almost 11years ago and I only got to hear about the app few days ago thanks to Elon Musk through unfortunate circumstances generated by Zuckerberg.
According to Elon, Signal Private Messenger promises to be more privacy focused and less user private data infringing. But even Zuckerberg had these promises showed on us when he acquired whatsapp, but today, We are fighting him off like a deteriorated condition of cancer whose goal is to eat out the very life of our privacy. Can Elon Musk be taken for his words?
Time will tell.

On the privacy front, Signal has implemented few measures to try and curb data leakage on the app.
Signal doesn’t save your backup online, this is both good and bad.
Good: Because the fear of your data getting stolen or sold is not possible seeing its stored offline on your device.
Bad: because if you lose your device, you lose all.
Another noticeable limitation on Signal Private Messenger is; you can’t login on multiple devices. If you login on one, you are logout on the other similar to the annoyance we endure on WhatsApp. If what you are looking for is a messaging app that allows you interact from multiple login locations/devices then you are better of sticking to Telegram Messenger.
Signal Private Messenger uses an end-to-end encryption key. What this simply means is, your messages are locked, with the key to unlocking them only available to the user/group it was sent to.
To signup on Signal Private Messenger, you need a valid mobile number. Yep, that is all you need; oh and a smartphone too.
FEATURES OF SIGNAL PRIVATE Messenger [SPM].
Supports voice and video call, for private and group chat.
Supports disappearing messages for group and private chat.
Allows the sending of any file format.
What if signal goes open source if its not already an open source app?
Giving coders like Rafelence the opportunity to bring the much needed customization Signal obviously lacks at the moment.
I like my apps looking distinguished from the rest, it’s why plus messenger is my telegram app and yes, Rafelence is the mind behind plus messenger.
There is an option for admins to verify new users who are joining a group even if when they are invited via a group invite link. This is actually good should the invite link fall into the wrong domain.
For group disappearing 𝒎𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒂𝒈𝒆 if a member sees the message the countdown starts and the message will disappear after the timer ends. It does not need the entire members of the group to see it first.
The disappearing messages does apply to sent files too; 𝒘𝒂𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒂 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒏𝒆𝒕𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌 𝒏𝒐 𝒇𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒅𝒐𝒘𝒏𝒍𝒐𝒂𝒅 1𝒈𝒊𝒈 𝒇𝒊𝒍𝒆 𝒑𝒆𝒓 𝒔𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒉.
There is an option for group video call too. And no, you won’t be notified during a video 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹 if you are not present during the time of the call in the group.
So is Signal a worthy try over previously available apps? Well let’s see what Signal Private Messenger has or doesn’t have.
Advantages of SPM.
End-end encryption messaging.
Option to send files of any format.
Pin verification login after signup.
No option for customisation.
Multiple device login not supported.
Very few people are on the platform at the moment, so moving to signal will be a difficult path to walk.
𝗡𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝘂𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁.
