Simplified description of the workload of a chipset in a smartphone – Allroundreview.
The chipset of a device (smartphone) is in charge of every activity of a smartphone, From picture taking, calling, gaming, charging, battery management, and optimization; the chipset of a device takes care of these activities. There is nothing that happens within a device or a smartphone that isn’t being orchestrated by the computing system (chipset) of that device.
Highlights of the Snapdragon 780G.
The Snapdragon 780G was launched in March 2021. The SD 780G is equipped with 5G multi-band support, Octa-core CPU configuration based on a 5nm process.
Highlights of the Mediatek Dimensity 920.
Mediatek Dimensity 920 is a midrange chipset like the Snapdragon 780G. However, the Dimensity 920 was launched in August 2021. It is an Octa-core CPU, manufactured through a 6nm process and supports 5G.
Comparison: Snapdragon 780G vs Mediatek Dimensity 920.
A lot of hardcore users prefer Snapdragon chipsets to that of Mediatek, and one consistent reason has been centered around snapdragon’s ability to embed their GPU (Adreno) into their chipsets. This is unlike Mediatek, whose GPU (Mali and others) is sourced externally.
The SD 780G though being a midrange chipset, uses a more advanced 5nm process compared to the Mediatek Dimensity 920 which uses a 6nm process. Bear in mind, that even the Snapdragon 860 that was launched in 2019 was manufactured using a 7nm process.
