The Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, manufactured by Qualcomm over the weekend using a 4nm process, is intended to be a cost-effective alternative to the Gen 8 processors for phone manufacturers that need a powerful platform.

The Snapdragon 7s's CPU is less potent than any other chip in the Snapdragon 7 series, and its ISP is less outstanding as well, suggesting a somewhat lower placement overall. The Redmi Note 13 series, slated to debut this month, is said to include the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor, according to certain speculations.

Because there was neither a Snapdragon 7 first generation nor a Snapdragon 7 second generation, the name could be misleading. We also don't know what the letter "s" stands for, but it's obvious that it stands for slashed specifications. The CPU features eight cores, with four running at 1.95 GHz and the other four at 2.4 GHz for performance.

Despite not being described, the Adreno GPU is indicated as supporting FHD+ resolution at 144 Hz. The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2's FastConnect 6700 connection architecture is a step back from the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2's 6900 platform, with a peak DL speed of just 2.9 Gbps and a maximum Bluetooth version of 5.2 that still supports low-energy audio.

The Spectra ISP supports a smartphone with a single camera capable of recording 4K video at 30 frames per second and up to 200 MP. The features also include Quick Charge 4+ and USB-C, and LPDRR5 RAM runs at 3200 MHz.

A timetable for when the new chipset would be found in smartphones was not formally provided by Qualcomm.
