Specification comparison.

Camera.

Tecno Camon 18P

The Tecno Camon 18p, Realme 8i and Redmi Note 11 devices are all budget friendly, it is difficult to nitpick too deep into their camera capabilities, however, the Tecno Camon 18P does pride itself as a camera centric device.

No doubt, howbeit spec wise, the Tecno Camon 18P wins this round thanks to its triple camera configuration of 64mp main camera, an 8mp periscope lens and a 12mp ultrawide camera with gimba OIS support.

The Realme 8i comes in a distant second to the 18P, with its 50mp triple rear camera setup.

The Redmi Note 11 takes the losing pill with a 50mp dual rear camera setup.

Camon 18P: front camera 32 MP, (wide)
Realme 8i: front camera 16 MP, f/2.1, (wide).
Redmi Note 11: front camera 16 MP

Display.

The Camon 18P has the biggest display of the lots, and personally, I enjoy using devices with large displays, I was one of the few campaigners behind the 6inch phablet adoption when mobile phones were dawdling between a 4inch and 5.5inch screen.

Back to the comparison, the Camon 18Premier is also the only device in this comparison to be fitted with an Amoled display. Tecno may have outdone themselves this time.

The Realme and the Redmi devices comes with an IPS display, and a much better ppi distribution, but that is of little consequence as all three devices comes with FHD display.

To leave the Redmi Note 11 further behind, the Camon 18p and Realme 8i has 120hz refresh rate, leaving the Redmi Note 11 with a 90hz. Bad Redmi, bad Redmi 😭

Snapdragon 695, a better 5G midrange chipset.

Chipset and network.

Despite all three devices having the same Mali-G57 Mc2 GPU, only the Redmi Note 11 comes with a Dimensity 810, made using a 6nm process.

Camon 18p and Realme 8i are both powered by the newly introduced Mediatek Helio G96 chipset, manufactured on a 12nm process.

Tecno Camon 18P, Realme 8i helio G96

Redmi note 11 wins this round, thanks to a better 6nm process, the presence of a full 5G connectivity support.

It’s worth noting that, the gaming performance of all three may have little to no difference due to the presence of a similar GPU.

Depending on system optimisation from the manufacturers, these devices are not made for heavy gaming.

Battery.

This is a round that the Redmi Note 11 wins flawlessly, thanks to its bigger battery of 5000mah, a power efficient 6nm Dimensity 810 chipset and Fast charging 33W, 100% in 62 min (reported).

The Realme 8i comes second with its 5000mah battery, 6.6inch compact screen.

The camon 18p takes the backseat on this, with a 4500mah battery and a bigger 6.7inch screen.

Pricing:

All three devices are midrange devices and their respective manufacturers try to price them at such.

The most affordable of the lots is the Redmi Note 11 coming at an amazing 160euros, considering the power efficient and 5G ready Dimensity 810 it comes powered with, the Redmi Note 11 is hard to beat at this price range.

The Realme 8i gets a similar representation thanks to its allround midrange offering capped by a capable helio G96 and a price tag of 170euros.

The Camon 18 Premier is the most expensive of these companions, but its hard to fault its pricing, seeing the Camon 18P brings camera specifications available only to the top-end smartphones, at 390euros, indeed, the Camon 18P has an uphill task trying to convince potential buyers.
