WhatsApp's New HD Photo Sharing Feature Lets You Send Sharper Images
Sending photographs over WhatsApp has several drawbacks, including the processing that results in a considerable (and very noticeable) reduction in the size, clarity, and quality of the images. On the other hand, this will eventually become history. That is, at least in terms of poor resolution. "HD photos" had long awaited arrival, but now here they are.
According to WhatsApp, "HD" in this context refers to resolutions up to 4096 x 2692. For whatever reason, you still have the standard quality choice, which will scale everything to 1600 x 1052. Resolution is one thing, and compression is another. WhatsApp has been tight on compression, refusing to say how much it will affect even those "HD" photographs. However, they will at least be greater resolution now, which will still improve their appearance.
You may now choose between the two quality settings by pressing the new HD icon, which is located on the toolbar. No matter if the photographs are in HD or not, they will all still be completely encrypted.
The new function is presently being rolled out to all users globally, although it will take some time for everyone to receive it. Soon after that, support for "HD" videos will be added.
