WhatsApp's 'View Once' now vanishes for voice messages
In August 2021, WhatsApp launched the "View Once" function, enabling users to transmit self-destructing images and videos. WhatsApp has now added audio messaging to its list of features.
Similar to the View Once feature for images and videos, the Hear Once feature should have also been applied to voice communications. Sending an audio message to someone else cannot be kept on their phone or listened to again after it has been opened. Additionally, after it is sent, the sender cannot hear it.
If the recipient has enabled read receipts, the View Once audio message will also show a label that reads "Opened" when opened.
Steps for sending view once voice messages on WhatsApp
- Start a private or group chat.
- Press the microphone.
- To lock the recording, swipe up.
- Hold the record while tapping.
When the view once icon turns green, it indicates that you are in view once mode.
- Press the "Send" button.
According to WhatsApp, the "one-time" sign is also used to indicate View Once voice messages to maintain consistency with View Once images and videos. Additionally, they are by default end-to-end encrypted.
Over the next several days, audio messages will be available everywhere.
