All new users on X will be required to pay the equivalent of $1 yearly to authenticate their accounts via the Not-A-Bot membership service before they can begin posting. The initiative will launch in New Zealand (NZD 1.43), and the Philippines (PHP 42.51), and further territories will follow. The new program will not have an impact on current X users.
An initial phone verification and payment for one of the subscription plans are needed to set up a new X account. According to the press release, new users will be able to publish material, like posts, comment, repost, as well as quote and bookmark the postings of other accounts on the online version of X. When new users choose not to subscribe, they may just read posts, view videos, and follow accounts.
